MaxComm Communication, organisers of the annual Yacht Racing Forum, today announced that Aarhus, Denmark, will be the host city of the 2017 Yacht Racing Forum. The two-day conference & exhibition will take place at the Hotel Radisson Blu Scandinavia in December 2017, seven months prior to the Sailing World Championships 2018.

“We are very proud to welcome Aarhus as host city for the Yacht Racing Forum. We are delighted to partner with Aarhus, a dynamic city which will be hosting the Sailing World Championships 2018 and which, strategically, has been dedicated to hosting international sailing events for many years”, says Bernard Schopfer, CEO and owner of the Yacht Racing Forum.

Aarhus, the second-largest city in Denmark, will be the European Capital of Culture in 2017 and in 2018 they will be hosting the ISAF Worlds. The city is perfectly accustomed to hosting international events and is looking forward to bidding to host big yachting events such as the Volvo Ocean Race in the future.

“The Yacht Racing Forum is a unique opportunity to present Aarhus to the organisers of some of the big events. The Bay of Aarhus is famous in sailing circles. The conference takes place a mere seven months before Aarhus will be hosting the ISAF Worlds. Therefore our goal is clearly to show what we can do, and do it well, and secure even more major international sailing events in the future,” says Rabih Azad-Ahmad, City Councellor and Alderman of Sport in Aarhus.

The Yacht Racing Forum is the leading annual conference for the global yacht racing industry. The two-day event gathers the sport’s key personalities and industry experts to discuss the business of yacht racing and key issues such as sponsorship, television, media, the Olympics, new markets, host cities and much more.

“The World Yacht Racing Forum coming to Aarhus in 2017 emphasizes that Denmark has gained a significant position in the yachting world. We look forward to welcoming the entire boating industry and sport stakeholders in 2017 and expect that many of them will return when we are hosting the big ISAF Worlds 2018,“ says Lars Lundov, CEO of Sport Event Denmark.

The Forum has previously been hosted in Monaco, Lisbon, Gothenburg, and Barcelona. The 2015 edition of the Forum will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on December 7 – 8. The sailing community in Aarhus is looking forward to becoming a part of this group of cities.

“The aim to become a best-in-class sailing city has resulted in Aarhus being appointed host of the ISAF World Sailing Championships 2018. Moreover, Aarhus is now in the process of creating one of the most advanced international sailing centers in the world,“ says Thomas Capitani, CEO of Sailing Aarhus.
