Alain Gautier is a sailing champion, winner of the Vendée Globe 1992-93 and currently sailing teams & project manager.
His list of achievements is impressive: 17 participations in the Solitaire du Figaro, including numerous stage victories, three solo round the world races including one victory in the second Vendée Globe, 15 transatlantic races, half of which solo, numerous Grand Prix victories, a participation in the Americas Cup with Team Alinghi, and a fine series of victories on Lake Geneva.
Alain has been instrumental in Ellen MacArthur’s second place in the Vendée Globe 2000. A father of five, he manages « Sensation Océan » since 2009, a company specialising in encouraging and discovering the sensations that racing trimarans and other IMOCA monohulls can provide.
For the past 3 years, he has been coaching and managing a Franco-German sailor, Isabelle Joschke, who will be at the start of the next Vendée Globe in 2020. He is the director of LANIC SPORT TEAM which manages the IMOCA MONIN.
He also participates as a consultant in the biannual World Sailing meetings to harmonize offshore racing calendars.
