Alistair Dickson

Alistair is the Director of Sport Development at the RYA with responsibility for all activity linked to increasing boating participation in the UK. Since being in post, Alistair has lead a restructure and relaunch of the RYA’s OnBoard programme which is designed to increase the number and diversity of young people within sailing and windsurfing. In doing this, Alistair and the RYA have worked with Professor Bill Lucas, a world-renowned thought leader in the development of character in young people, to better promote the life-skills and character sailing develops in young people. Prior to this, Alistair spent a brief period at World Sailing as the Events Manager and was also the High Performance Manager for RYA Wales which involved the management development of Wales’ youth pathway, all the way from club to Olympic level. Previously, Alistair was part of the London Organising Committee for London 2012 was an officer in the British Army and deployed to Afghanistan in 2011.
