Renaud Bañuls is the founder of bañulsdesign, the naval architecture and engineering company chosen by Thomas Coville as principal designer of his new Ultim Sodebo 5.
Renaud is a naval architect benefiting from hands-on experience on racing multihulls & monohulls. As foredeck crew on Géant, the ORMA60 trimaran helmed by Michel Desjoyeaux and a trimmer on Frank Cammas highly successful Groupama, Renaud has been able to fully comprehend – in the aggressive environment of multihull & monohull racing – the direct implications of design choices.
He gained his experience in yacht design by being actively involved amongst other, in the design of the America’s Cup winner BMW Oracle, the maxi trimaran Banque Populaire V, Groupama 2 and 3, and many Orma 60 and Imoca 60.
Renaud is also lecturer in the architecture naval diploma – DPEA – at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architectures de Nantes.
Bañulsdesign is currently designing racing and high performance cruising boats.
