Director of Performance Engineering at SailGP
Alex Reid
Alex has over 20 years experience working in the marine industry in the domain of software, electronics and performance analysis. His experience ranges from working with Olympic sailing teams, various offshore campaigns including the Volvo Ocean Race, and a number of inshore programs including the America’s Cup. With time spent at Cosworth, Alex’s experience also includes various motorsport programs and on water this includes powerboat racing and various speed record attempts using motorised and wind driven methods.
Alex is currently Director of Performance Engineering at SailGP and has been involved with SailGP since inception, when the initial design work for the F50 was undertaken. His current role sees him leading the Performance Engineering group which is responsible for the simulator, control systems and data analysis.
