Head of Sustainability, World Sailing

Alexandra Rickham

Alexandra Rickham is Head of Sustainability at World Sailing, a position she has held since March 2022.


A former full-time member of the Great Britain sailing team for a decade, helming the SKUD 18, two-person Paralympic class, she is a five-time world champion, a three-time ISAF World Cup Series Champion, a double Paralympic bronze medallist at the 2012 and 2016 Games. She was also nominated for the 2011 ISAF World Sailor of the Year.
Alexandra joined World Sailing from Earth to Ocean Ltd where she worked directly with SailGP to increase diversity, equity and inclusion to deliver outcomes within SailGP, sailing, the sports industry and beyond, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience in championing sustainability, diversity and inclusion through a career within professional sport – both as an athlete and an executive.
She is an accomplished public speaker, a regular contributor to the GreenSports and Climate Champions Podcast and has been a panellist for Coptimism, the Sport Positive Summit and British Association of Sustainability in Sport Conference.
In addition, Alexandra also serves as an Advisory Board Member and Ambassador for Ecoathletes where she helps to drive the direction of the organisation and empowers athletes to speak confidently on climate change by providing educational and career development opportunities.
