Pro Sailor and Performance Data Analyst
Emily Nagel
Born and raised in Bermuda I have always been passionate about combining my love of sailing with my career. I graduated from the university of Southampton in 2016 with an MENG in Yacht and Small Craft focusing on high performance foiling craft. After graduating I moved back to Bermuda to race with the Bermudian entry for the Youth America’s Cup and ended up working with the SoftBank Team Japan Design and Shore Team. From there I started my venture into professional sailing racing with Team AkzoNobel in the 2017/18 Volvo Ocean Race. After completing the lap I decided to split my time working as a Professional Sailor and starting to work as a Performance Data Analyst for a variety of race teams. Working alongside SailGP GBR for Season 1 and the British Olympic Team for Paris 2024 cycle as well as other classes across the industry. Alongside this I was the Technical commentator for SailGP for the past 3 seasons. I have continued to race both inshore and offshore, winning The Ocean Race Europe 2021 with Racing For the Planet, campaigning for the 2023 Moth Worlds, competing in the World Match Racing Tour, racing in the Swan50 classes and most recently trying out the Maxi classes. I have always loved having a variety of racing and getting involved in different classes with a diverse mix of people and experiences. I am passionate about sustainability and the environment, recently undertaking further studies in product design for a circular economy.
