Helen Fretter

Helen is editor of Yachting World – not only the world’s oldest sailing magazine and a monthly print publication, but now also a global digital sailing media brand across multiple platforms with a monthly reach of over 2m. Editor since 2020, she has steered the title through the post-pandemic boom in boat ownership, rapidly shifting readership and buying habits, and an awful lot of algorithm changes. Prior to that Helen has been a sailing journalist for two decades, having also worked on the comms team for major UK and international events, including the Vendée Globe and Barcelona World Race. At the core of her work, however, is a passion for telling sailors’ stories – be they competitive athletes pushing to the limits mid-ocean, or families realising their dream by setting off on the voyage of a lifetime.
